Nicole Donovan, Registered Psychotherapist

MY PASSION

My passion for being a therapist comes from the recognition that mental wellness is a significant component of our overall health. I am an advocate for normalizing and destigmatizing the vast spectrum that is mental health and mental health care. I have personally found therapy to be an important contributor to my own well-being and find it rewarding to provide this experience to others.

Asking for help and engaging in therapy can be quite difficult—it takes tremendous personal strength! I aim to provide a comfortable, safe, and non-judgmental space where you will feel supported.

WHO I WORK WITH

I work with individuals from all walks of life—every person is unique and has their own story to tell. You deserve to tell your story, and therapy is a safe space to do so. All are welcome!

Life happens, and with it comes many experiences, challenges, emotions, and barriers. Stress, anxiety, change/transitions, loss and grief, depression, anger, relationships, etc. You are not alone. I am here to help, regardless of what brings you to therapy.

I have particular experience helping with stress and anxiety, career counselling and workplace issues, and disability/health challenges. I am also passionate about the issues faced by the LGBTQ2S+ community.

My specific experience with teens includes working with anxiety, big emotions, self-esteem, self-identity, and coping with stress/change/adjustment, etc.

I am excited to offer couples therapy to any persons involved in a romantic partnership. Relationships are an important cornerstone of our lives and ensuring wellness within our relationships is of utmost importance. I am here to help you achieve your relationship goals– whether it be to improve communication, rebuild trust, work through conflict, or build connection, couples therapy is a great way to strengthen your relationship and gain new perspectives on your relationship dynamics.

I utilize emotion-focused, narrative, and cognitive behavior techniques in my approach to couples work and believe that all couples– no matter how long they’ve been together, can benefit from couples therapy.

Making changes in our lives can be difficult, and although you feel ready for change you may also feel unsure about what it might look like, and maybe even questioning how or where to start. You have goals but you just don’t know how to take the first step.

MY APPROACH

My approach is highly individualized based on your therapeutic goals. What works for one person may not work for another, and so we will work together to develop a treatment plan in order to ensure that you are achieving your therapy goals.

I believe that every person possesses their own strengths and the resiliency needed to overcome challenges, and so this will be incorporated into our work together.

My goal is to ensure that you leave therapy feeling empowered and have the tools to take on life’s issues, whatever they may be.

I utilize trauma-informed Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, Narrative, and Solution-Focused approaches and techniques in my work.

I’m able to offer a new perspective to those who seek it, and a safe place for you to experience and process emotions that can be difficult to acknowledge or speak aloud. I emphasize the importance of taking care of you while working towards accomplishing your goals.

You’ve made it this far in your journey to seek support, let’s take the next step together.
I’m Ready!
