Amanda Popat, Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW)
MY PASSION
My passion for being a therapist comes from a personal calling to support and hold space for those struggling with or navigating through the difficulties of life, whether they be day-to-day challenges, or larger life events that feel like too much to process on your own.
Even though it can feel scary to reach out for counselling support, I truly believe we should not have to face any of life’s challenges on our own.
Accessing counselling and mental health support is an important part of personal self-care, understanding and growth, no matter your age or gender identification.
MY APPROACH
During our time together, I will do my best to provide a warm, safe and accepting counselling space to share, heal and work towards your therapeutic goals. I believe in a person-centered, holistic approach which allows for an individually tailored intervention plan to achieve the best outcome for you.
This may include Mindfulness strategies, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, which connects the mind to body, and attachment theory approaches.
I also have specialized experiences in working in the area of grief and loss.
I strive to form a positive therapeutic relationship with you in which you can explore and experience all the emotions which may come with grief of any nature, but also believe strongly in the concept of making meaning out of our experiences to be able to move through them in a positive way, at a time when it can make sense for you.
